CAT at a Glance

College of Agricultural Technology, Theni is a pioneering institution of agricultural education in southern district of Tamil Nadu, affiliated to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. The College was established in the year 2010 and it is symbolically designated as CAT – Theni by the official records and the public. The college is situated at the base of the foothills of Western Ghats of Kullapuram Village, at distance of 25 Kilometre away from Theni City and close to the fertile ever green Cumbum valley and Vaigai dam. The campus is located in a calm and natural surroundings with an extent of 153 hectares of land amidst of hillocks with full of natural vegetations.

CAT, THENI has been established by SREE KRISHNA EDUCATION TRUST with the benevolent effort Dr. K. Balaraman .Msc(Ag), PhD., Founder and Managing Trustee of Sree Krishna Educational Trust.and Mrs. Kanagavalli Balaraman , Founder and Joint managing Trustee for the cause of agricultural education and development of this region.

The vision as envisaged by the Founder and Managing Trustee of CAT Theni is to develop this institute as national centre of global focus with reputation for academic excellence in agricultural education and research that catalyse knowledge based agricultural growth and development.

CAT Theni is dedicated to offer quality teaching in agricultural science that inculcates expertise and talent for the development of the individual. Agricultural education is the key to the prosperity of region and the nation as whole. The transformation that accrue through the quality of agricultural education may leads to overall well being of the society.

Intensive research in the field of agricultural sciences may open new areas of development of food production and economic growth. Agricultural research in frontier areas widen the boundaries of knowledge and contributes the betterment of farming community.

CAT with missionary zeal may deliver high quality expertise and dedicated service to students and farming communities in all aspects of agriculture and allied activities leading to social, economic, and national development.

Logo of CAT consists of a wheel with spikelet of grains and a beam of radiant energy from sun with a seed just emerging out. It indicates the multitudes of agro-technologies from seed to grain with wheel as symbol of mechanization .The light energy from the sun is the universal source of existence of life on earth. The logo reveals the prosperity of humanity lie on “empowering of agriculture”
